My wife has always dreamed of working at the Getty Center in Los Angeles. The Getty Center is one of the most beautiful places in Los Angeles. The placeOffers unique views of the city and the most amazing architecture. When my wife was hired for a position at the Getty Center, she wanted to move to Los Angeles. We were living in San Diego at the time, and I knew we couldn’t afford to move to Los Angeles. We looked for real estate but we only had a few weeks to find something affordable and close to The Getty Center. I work from home, so that eliminated having to worry about one person’s job and location. My wife and I were very unfamiliar with the neighborhoods around Los Angeles, but we found several places for rent in a city called Tarzana. Tarzana was a nice place to live when my wife and I moved here 15 years ago. Since recreational marijuana was legalized, there have been a number of dispensaries open in the retail spaces near my home. My wife and I are terribly unhappy about this turn of events and believe it will one day affect our property value. The cannabis industry is booming, but it is having a negative impact on my property value. No one wants to move close to the location of a cannabis shop. The only good thing about living in Tarzana is the fact that the Getty Center is still just a short 30-minute drive. With gas prices nearing $5 a gallon, we have to stay put.
