The first time I visited the cannabis dispensary in Whitehall, I had no idea what I wanted to buy.
I knew very little about marijuana, and was surprised by the many consumption methods.
Recreational marijuana had only recently been legalized, and I was eager to try it. My job involves long hours and a great deal of stress. I sometimes find it difficult to unwind, relax and enjoy my weekends. I hoped that cannabis might help. As I browsed the shelves of concentrates, extracts, edibles, tinctures and vapes, I just felt overwhelmed. Fortunately, the budtenders at the dispensary are wonderful. I was able to ask tons of questions, get recommendations and feel confident in my purchase. The budtender asked me all sorts of questions about my objective and preferences. He explained the differences between indicas, sativas and hybrids and taught me about THC and CBD potency. I started with edibles, because they don’t require any specialized skills or gear. I was able to buy some chocolate and gummies that were quite tasty. I was very careful to follow the minimum recommended dosage on the various products and experiment responsibly. With edibles, the cannabinoids are absorbed by way of the digestive tract. This means that it can take up to an hour and a half for the full effects to be felt. It can be very tempting to consume more after just a few minutes. The greater intensity of effects from edibles makes it especially important to be patient. I have also tried purchasing tinctures and adding them to my favorite foods. I can add a few drops of a tincture to yogurt, a smoothie or just about anything and turn it into an edible.
